Fabio Lievano

Fabio Lievano brings over 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical R&D, public health, and digital health innovation to his role as Vice President of Patient Safety, Scientific Collaborations, and New Business Development at AbbVie. In this role, he leads multidisciplinary teams across therapeutic areas, including physicians, epidemiologists, and statisticians, with a focus on clinical safety, pipeline development, and business growth.
Before joining AbbVie, Fabio held senior roles at various pharmaceutical companies such as Merck, Novartis, and Sanofi, overseeing clinical safety and risk management in immunology, immuno-oncology, neuroscience, vaccines, and medical devices. He also contributed to global public health during his tenure with the FDA, CDC, and EMA, shaping industry standards and advancing patient care.
Fabio holds an M.D. from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and is a long-time member of TransCelerate’s Pharmacovigilance Steering Committee.
