Michelle Rohrer, PhD is Global Head of Product Development Regulatory and Policy as of February 2016.
Michelle joined Genentech, a member of the Roche group, as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in 1993 and later became a Clinical Scientist before moving to Regulatory in 1999. Michelle has held a number of leadership positions over the years within Product Development and Regulatory, including Head of US Regulatory and Site Head for Product Development at the South San Francisco Site. Prior to becoming the Global Head of Product Development Regulatory, she held the position of Global Head of Regulatory Regions and Policy. In her current position, Michelle leads the global Regulatory organization overseeing Roche’s regulatory development strategies and policy efforts worldwide. Michelle is located in Basel, Switzerland.
In 2013, Michelle was named by the SF Business Times as one of “The Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business.” In 2014, she was selected by PharmaVOICE as one of the 100 most inspiring leaders in healthcare. Michelle served on the Genentech Foundation Board for 3 years helping to oversee Genentech’s charitable giving. Since 2014, she has served on the Science Advisory Board for the UCSF-Stanford Center for Excellence in Regulatory Science. In 2015 she was selected and served as one of the industry representatives to the FDA-industry team which negotiated the Prescription Drug User Fee Act VI draft agreement which is currently under legislative review.
Michelle Rohrer received her PhD in Nutrition Science (1993) with a minor in Physiological Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis. At UC Davis, Michelle was a research and teaching assistant, a National Institutes of Health (NIH) predoctoral fellow, and Graduate Student Assistant to the Chancellor.
